for License Holders and CE Providers

 

Notice: NEW CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS! All licensees must submit 30 contact hours of continuing education earned in the current licensure period of January 1, 2012 thru November 15, 2013. AT LEAST 2 of the 30 contact hours MUST CONCERN SOCIAL WORK ETHICS. NO MORE THAN 10 CONTACT HOURS may be completed by SELF-STUDY OR DISTANCE LEARNING methods! Persons obtaining their initial license after January 1, 2013 are required to submit 15 contact hours. If initial licensure is obtained after July 1, 2013, there is no contact hours requirement, for this current licensing period only!

License Holder's Request for Program Approval

Fee: Non-approved Continuing Education $10.00

  • $10 Form - Individual License Holder's Application For Program Approval
  • DO NOT SUBMIT THE $10 FORM and $10 FEE if the program you completed is approved by either NASW or ASWB.  A copy of your completion certificate and proof of approval by either organization is all that is required to be submitted.
  • ACADEMIC COURSEWORK - To submit a request for approval of your academic coursework, submit the $10 Form and $10 fee along with a copy (unofficial is acceptable) of your transcript showing the final grade(s).  1 semester hour = 15 contact hours;  1 quarter hour = 10 contact hours.

Approved Provider Status

Fee: Approved Provider of Continuing Education $100.00/year

NOTICE: All NDBSWE approved providers of continuing education must submit a typed list of social workers eligible for C.E. credits. The typed list must contain the following and will be returned if not complete or typed:

  • Name of Program

  • Provider/Program number

  • Date of Program

  • Number of Contact Hours earned

  • Attendee's names

  • Attendee's license numbers

  • Purchase list of ND Licensed Social Workers: A list of ND licensed social workers may be purchased for continuing education purposes only! To order, submit the Request Form or a written request including reason for request and information order (alpha, zip, etc) and format (mailing labels, paper list, disk) desired along with a check or money order in the amount of $100.00. Check made payable to NDBSWE. Lists are processed within two weeks of date request received


Approved Program Status

Continuing Education FAQ

Q:        How do I report my continuing education hours?

A:         For programs that are not pre-approved by the NDBSWE, a licensed social worker must fill out the Individual License Holders Application for Program Approval or $10 form. 

Q:        Can I request a waiver for my continuing education hours?

A:         Yes, however very few are granted.  All requests must be made in writing prior to the end of the renewal period.  The board will look at each request on a case by case situation.

Q:        Can a list of licensed social workers be purchased?

A:         Yes, the board will provide mailing labels or a list of licensed social workers upon written request and payment of $100.00 made payable and sent to: NDBSWE | Box 914 - 2900 E Broadway | Bismarck, ND 58502-0914
